What is the RAKE event?
RAKE is a collaboration between The Union and Anew Day to host a 3 hour community-involved event in which registered teams will perform Acts of Kindness by cleaning the roadways, parks, and schools throughout Nevada County.

Who is organizing RAKE?
The Union, KNCO, KVMR and Anew Day – a local non-profit dedicated to providing free and reduced cost counseling to those in need are joining efforts to spearhead this community-oriented event..

Who will the raised funds go to?
While RAKE is designed to simultaneously beautify the community and raise community awareness regarding mental illness, suicide, and the resources available for folks facing difficult life situations, all proceeds will go directly to advancing the services Anew Day provides.

What type of Acts of kindness will be involved?
From highway clean-up and park landscaping to school revitalization and trail restoration, we will work to clean and refresh our community’s streets and neighborhoods.

How do I register to participate in RAKE?
We prefer you register on-line on the registration link above. Or you may call Anew Day at 530-470-9111.

What does my registration fee cover?
Registration fees are used to cover the following costs: T-shirts, clean-up equipment, water bottles and morning refreshments, and registration administration fees. You will also receive a coupon for a free BBQ and discounted items at Anew Place – Community Thrift and Resource Center.

How do I help make the RAKE event a success?
Your participation is what makes RAKE a success. In addition, once you register, ask your friends, family, employers, and co-workers to register too!

Is there a way to contribute to RAKE even though I can’t participate on the day?
Yes!!!! We welcome and are grateful for financial contributions from both individuals and businesses. Donations are accepted in lieu of and in addition to participation.

What will I need to bring on RAKE day?
Weather-appropriate attire (You’ll be provided a t-shirt when you arrive at your project location). IPhone (or similar) to photograph your Acts of Kindness.

What is the deadline to register for RAKE?
As long as spots are available on teams, registration is open through September 29. However, to guarantee registrants receive a RAKE event t-shirt, registration must be completed by September 20.

Where will I meet my team to begin my project?
You’ll meet your team at the project site. An address and map of the meeting location is on your specific RAKE project page.

How long is each project?
Each project is designed to take approximately 3 hours.

Do I need to bring tools or cleaning equipment to RAKE?
Each project requires specific tools. While we will provide limited project equipment and tools, if you have specific items available, please consider bringing those items along with you the day of the project. If bringing your personal supplies, please label items with your name clearly indicated. Please click on your specific project link to see what supplies are needed for your project.

What does my team do when we are done?
After projects are completed, we encourage all participants to join us for a free celebration and appreciation BBQ at Anew Place- Community Thrift & Resource Center located at 745 South Auburn St., Grass Valley, CA. The BBQ will run from 11:30-2:30, so arrive at your convenience.
